  Inside of Central Church

From Tuesday, July 24, through Friday, August 3 of 2007, Pastor Nick was one of ten participants in a Mission Awareness Trip to the Central American country of Nicaragua.

The group met with pastors and leaders of the country’s Lutheran Church of Faith and Hope, visiting and worshiping with various church communities and staying with Nicaraguan families.  They also visited several schools as well as the Lutheran World Relief coffee project located in the northern highlands.

Most of the 10 persons making this journey are members of Lutheran congregations in southeast Portland.  The tour was organized by Dan and Barbara Peterson of Kings of Kings Lutheran in Milwaukie.  Their daughter is currently serving as a young adult volunteer with Lutheran ministries in Nicaragua.  She presented a workshop here at Zoar when our congregation hosted the Global Mission event on Saturday, February 2, 2007 where Bishop Victoria Cortez of the Nicaraguan Lutheran Church of Faith and Hope was the main speaker.
