Zoar Lutheran Church is a lovely site for a
wedding with its
stained
glass windows and traditional altar area. We would be happy to be a part
of your special day.
Included on this page is the basic information you need to know if
you are considering Zoar as the site for your wedding.
Where To Begin...
All arrangements will go through the Pastor, Nick
Doversberger, and Paula Richardson, Zoar's Office Manager,
with the assistance of the assigned wedding hostess.
Arrangements and
scheduling begin in the Church Office where the date is cleared with
Pastor Nick and the church calendar, and the bride is given a wedding
booklet detailing costs, items provided by the church & those
provided by the bride, available options, standards of behavior, etc.
Who Will Officiate...
Pastor Nick performs all weddings, except where other arrangements are
made through him or when he is out of town and unavailable. Premarital
counseling is required prior to the wedding and will involve several
sessions.
Will there be Someone at the Church to Help Me...
You will be assigned a Wedding Hostess who will help you arrange the
details of your wedding. She will be available several months before the
wedding to answer questions that arise and will coordinate activities on
your wedding day.
Weddings can be very simple or elaborate, depending
upon the wishes of the couple to be married. It is of the utmost
importance, however, that concern over wedding details not obscure the
deep, spiritual meaning of a marriage.
What About Music...
You are free to select the music to be used, provided your selections
are in keeping with the sacred spirit of the service. You may consult
with Pastor Nick and the church organist on this.
If you have no
one to provide music for your wedding, Zoar has several organists,
accompanists, and soloists from which you may choose, or you
may use your own musicians.
Tapes or CDs may also be used.
However, a trained technician from the church will need to man the
sound system, especially if you are using a CD.
This
covers the basics. For more information, contact the church either
by email (zoar@canby.com ) or
phone (503.266.4061).
