"Conversations with Jesus" - Lent 2026

Ash Wednesday Prayer February 18, 12 pm

In preparation for our Lenten journey, we will gather in the Kindness Room for a short noon-time service of prayer with Scripture readings, a reflection by Pastor Michelle, and the imposition of ashes, which remind us of our mortality and our dependence on God’s care. Holy Communion will be celebrated.

Ash Wednesday Worship February 18, 7 pm

We will gather in the sanctuary to receive ashes as a reminder of our mortality and our dependence on God’s care, and we will celebrate God’s abiding presence with us as we share in the Lord’s Supper. In keeping with our midweek worship theme for Lent, “Conversations with Jesus,” our theme for this evening will be “Heart to Heart.”

Lenten Sundays

February 22 - We journey with Jesus to the wilderness, a place of temptation and trial. (Matthew 4:1-11).

March 1 - A curious Pharisee, Nicodemus, visits Jesus by night to learn from the teacher his friends reject. Jesus speaks to him about life in the Spirit and the kingdom of God. (John 3:1-17)

March 8 - Jesus defies convention to engage a Samaritan woman in conversation. Her testimony, in turn, leads many others to faith. (John 4:5-42)

March 15 - Jesus heals a man born blind, provoking a hostile reaction that he regards as spiritual blindness to the things of God. (John 9:1-41)

March 22 - Jesus is moved to sorrow when his friend Lazarus falls ill and dies. Then, in a dramatic scene, he calls his friend out of the tomb and restores him to life. (John 11:1-45)

Each Wednesday evening we’ll follow this schedule:

 6-6:45 pm: Soup supper

7 pm: Holden Evening Prayer

Each week a member or friend of Zoar will share a personal reflection based on the Scripture and theme of the day. Sharing and listening to each other’s stories is one way we grow in faith toward God and in love for each other!
